How important is a credit check when trying to get a finance related position?

at least semi important. you should be able to manage your finances before attempting to handle someone else’s.

Look at it this way, in most financial positions you have to handle money, sometimes large amounts of it.
Would you want to hire someone to handle your money if they could handle their own?

My friend just got job as teller for bank only to have it than many other positions my friend just got job as teller for bank only to have it taken.
